Arsenal will have to pay £2 million more than they had prepared for Blackburn Rovers' centre-back Christopher Samba after it emerged 15 per cent of his transfer fee will go to his former club Hertha Berlin, the Daily Mail report.

The Gunners are interested in the Congolese defender and according to the paper they will have to pay at least £12m to get their man.

It had been widely reported that the Londoners were trying to thrash out a £10m deal with Blackburn but the Lancashire club are likely to want more as they will owe money to Samba's former side.

Blackburn are reluctant to sell their centre-half so soon after Phil Jones moved to Manchester United, but both Arsenal and Tottenham are keen on the 27-year-old, who recently confirmed that he would consider leaving Ewood Park this summer.
